The photography is amazing – cartoon like colors and subtle but fantastic camera angles and movement – not to mention the story, the character, the actors… perfect… one to have in your collection

The cinematography in this movie is incredible. If you ever watch the film again, which i know all of you will, look at the colors of the film. THe center around the greens and red, and there is almost always just a bit of blue in the scene. YAY AMELIE !

I’ve only just seen this advertised, but she is so cute. Can somebody tell me about it?

Mate, you have to watch this film! It’s basically the story of a girl who goes round giving people what they deserve – doing good things for good people and bad things to bad.

Just everything about the film is pulled off to perfection, it’s an absolute joy to watch!

Vano
Vano posted about 1 year ago

Is she quiet?

What kind of bad things?

Aww, you called me mate! I love British people. Well, the ones that call me mate at least. Unless you aren’t British. Then I apologize.

purple octopus
purple octopus posted about 1 year ago

S’alright I am British!

Is she quiet? No, no, not entirely. If you’re gonna watch the film (and you really should), then it’s probably one of those less-you-know-about-it-the-better type affairs!

I enjoyed reading your conversation. ^

and yes, Amelie is a great film. I realized the gorgeous cinematography in the scene where Amelie walks by the old man (whos staring into space), in the subway. EEEEEEEEeeeEeEEee. Great film. Really changed my perception of the world!!! :)))))

Oh, and also, I loved how the film introduces people by their idiosyncrasies.

I have the soundtrack now, and I think I notice a pattern. First the Breakfast Club, then The Royal Tenenbaums, then Donnie Darko, now Amelie. This is either a good or very bad thing (I apologze foe speaking in black and white terms). Is anyone’s life out there dreamlike in some way? Or is it always us just wishing it to be a certain way-dreamlike. Is a person who becomes absorbed in the lives of fictional characters doomed? Again I am reminded of The Purple Rose Of Cairo. Is it true that all we could ever want or need we already have? Buddhism, Taoism, Hinduism, Platoism, etc. etc. I’ve studied them all for so long, and I try to meditate on things, but nothing is completely satisfying. Impermanence is not what bothers me. How does one see beauty in everything. Am I in the wrong place or wrong state of mind?

Sorry.

That’s all right! I think they’re all playing on the ‘if I hadn’t seen such riches, I could live with being poor’ way of thinking and trying to urge people into looking around us more and being thankful for what we have! It’s a nice ideal, but I think we all like something to think about, if everything was great from the off, life would be pretty dull if you ask me!

NimbleMarmoset
NimbleMarmoset posted about 1 year ago

The Science of Sleep is about .. well, the science of sleep! :)

Gael García Bernal is the lead. He invents strange objects, and cannot seem to get out of his dreams and the whole dreaming state. It gets to a point that he cannot remember what happened in real life and what happened in his dreams. And then the watcher can’t realize either.
