Lacey Schwimmer

Lacey-Mae Schwimmer appears as a top 20 finalist on the third season of the Fox reality television series So You Think You Can Dance. Born on June 28, 1988, she is also the cousin of David Schwimmer, a well-known cast member of the Emmy Award-winning TV sitcom Friends. Her nicknames are Birdie, Sissyduckling, Macy Gray, and Lace-Face. Lacey was raised by a family of competitive dancers, and is the younger sister of So You Think You Can Dance second season champion Benji Schwimmer, as well as the daughter of West Coast Swing dancer Buddy Schwimmer. She has been dancing competitively since she was young, and participated at the age of seven in the 1995 U.S. Open Dance Championship with her partner Brian Cordoba.

She has garnered a number of awards, such as 1st place in the Youth U.S. National Swing Championships, and 1st place in the 2006 U.S. National Youth Latin Championships. Lacey says that she was inspired by her favorite professional dancer Cyd Charisse, especially after seeing her in the film Singin’ in the Rain. She classifies her techniques and dancing style as a mix of International Latin and West Coast Swing. Aside from dancing, she also enjoys hobbies such as painting and sunbathing.
