Nishimura Kyo, or simply, Kyo, is the lead-singer of the popular Japanese Rock/Metal band Dir en Grey. Since the band's inception in 1997, he has gained notoriety (both good and...not so good) by engaging in such acts as fish-hooking, cutting his wrists/chest/stomach, punching himself, and generally abusing himself onstage.
This violent, sporadic, and sometimes disarming nature onstage is in part due to the fact that Kyo's main goal, as he has stated countless times, is expressing himself, his ideas, and his emotions through his music and presence. His ability to sing live, along with his "stage act" are some of Kyo's best-known features.
Kyo was born in Kyoto on February 16th, 1976 to the Nishimura family, and was given the name Tooru. However, due to his dislike of that name, he has entertained several alias's since his break into the Japanese indie music scene as a teenager. His predominant alias is of course, Kyo, which he has used for the past 11 or so years. As of February 2008, he is 32-years-old.

whoops i thought that “Kyo” was kyo sohma as in fruits basket character smacks forehead so uh yeah. thats why it has “the best manga cat”. but while i’m here, i just discovered dir en grey and have heard a few of their songs, they’re real cute too. i heart die (mainly because i love the name diesuke but hey thats good enuf reason right?)
