Kindred: The Embraced was a 1996 Fox television series/vampire soap opera, produced by Mike Trozzo. It was loosely based on the role-playing game Vampire: The Masquerade, and ran for one eight-episode season; plans for a second season were abandoned following the death of actor Mark Frankel, who played co-lead Julian Luna.

The main plot arc revolves around San Francisco police detective, Frank Kohanek (played by C. Thomas Howell), who becomes deeply embroiled in the Masquerade when investigating an alleged mobster, Julian Luna, who is actually the Ventrue Prince of the Kindred within the city. As Frank grows closer to Julian's circle of Kindred, he forms a gradual bond with them throughout several vampire-related investigations.

I can't believe this show left such a huge impression on me, considering it only lasted 8 episodes. LOL! Still, I was really sad when Mark Frankel died, and was truly disappointed when the show quit after only one season…
