born in 1974 in san francisco, kal karman has been based in milan and since 2000. after a film degree from u.c. berkeley and cinematography work in los angeles, kal began the post-production route towards directing: special effects experience at industrial light & magic (”star wars the phantom menace” by george lucas, “magnolia” by paul thomas anderson, "celebrity' by woody allen). this was soon followed by a move to europe and a new concentration on editing. in 2002 kal grew into directing documentaries, music videos and commercials. 2007 begins with an exclusive at (h) films in milan, and an expansion to barcelona and exclusives with booker and with agosto as part of a directing team called otakulab.
