Kadaj and his two brothers were born in a Shinra laboratory in an attempt to recreate the experiment that had originally resulted in Sephiroth. The clones eventually found a way to escape the lab, and Professor Hojo, to seek out their mother, Jenova. In the end, their search led them to the remainders of Shinra Electric Company, Rufus Shinra, and the Turks.
After several misleading tidbits handed to them by Rufus, and the brutal attack on both Tseng and Elena, Kadaj found where Jenova’s head was located. The ensuing fight between Rufus and Kadaj that led to the fight between all three brothers versus Cloud resulted in a near disasterius cataclysm that brought back Sephiroth. In the end, Kadaj found himself beaten and dying as Cloud held him. A warm voice called out to him and he felt an almost burning yet soothing rain hit him.
Leader of the three brothers, Kadaj can be prone to purest of madness, calm yet savage, childish yet wise. Kadaj’s mindset rocks from one extreme to the other. He primarily uses a double-edged sword known as “Souba” (Twin Blade).

I can’t believe no one had already created a page for Kadaj. :o People have no taste in characters nowadays.
That is so true. People really have no appreciation for a complex and conflicted character, they are only interested in the characters that have the funniest lines or are obviously the heroes. It's just a sign of how we're becoming stupider as a culture. The subtle things about a character or story go unnoticed; the audiences of today want a big bang, lots of swear words and sex--everything has to be in your face, over-the-top.
In real life, that's not how people are. They're complex, emotional beings that often struggle to even know the difference between right and wrong--an excellent example of why Kadaj is such a great character, because he really presents that image of humanity and does it beautifully. Like all the best things in this life though, nobody realizes how amazing he is until after he's dead--meaning, in the case of a fictional character, that nobody will really appreciate him until decades later, when the Final Fantasy VII saga is all but forgotten.
Then, one day, some university students will be sitting in a literature classroom discussing films of the 21st century, and the character that will really give them something to analyze and read into will be Kadaj--not Cloud, not Sephiroth, but Kadaj--the "villain" who shows us the confused child in all of us. The villain who wants to be a hero, the villain who wants to be loved and accepted as he is, the villain who wants to be drawn back towards the light.
Kadaj will have his moment. I'm sure of it.
kadaj rules i cant believe no-one hardly likes him any more, hes da best.
im sure he will have a moment
Kadaj literally is the definition of a villain that defies the standard 'evil'.
He isn't evil, really. But he isn't good, either. He is a human that is human in all aspects of the word.
....
Maybe that's why I like him so much...
^.^
kadaj is…........................... hotter than cloud. xD lol.
Kadag is sexy ;)
Oh yay.
No kidding? They ARE brothers?! (sweat drops)....that makes sense, all 3 are white haired, and Yazoo looks like Kadaj, Loz is.....(new specimen of the 3 ??)
Oh well, in many ways, the original Japanese dub for Kadaj makes his voice stand out perfectly.
Kadaj is amazing, but can his sword actually cut anything? [been wondering about this for a while....]
I do agree with Akito that Kadaj's tormented self and the way he puts his intense feelings into words (every bit of his voice) makes him my favorite Final Fantasy Advent children character. I'm not doing this for his looks or cool uniform, it is his overall antagonist personality that works for me.
*cheers for Akito and Kadaj. =)
Akito_san, I agree that Kadaj's moment of death in Cloud's arms is truly the highlight in FFVII Advent children. Ur point makes total sense to me, the child in all of us. Even though Kadaj is evil, his sense of wonder and the his inner drive to merge with Kasan is truly something to wonder at and (think about it, it's an act of self discovery for Kadaj as well) .
His personality is amazing, and the way he does numerous things in FFVII....the smallest thing he does in FFVII shows that inner self he so earnestly try to understand, not to mention his lunatical and child like need and obsession for Kasan.
I'm wordless over this villian.
AW HE IS SO CUTE!
Yeah Kadaj is kool too. I still prefer Yazoo though. I liked his calm matter better.
