Born Febuary 16, 1978 in Maple Shade, New Jersey. In highschool he was known to everyone as, "the gay guy who likes puppets." But in fact, that odd talent would represent an exiting future for Johnny. He started working at the Jim Henson Company as a puppeteer on Sesame Street at the age of 16. He started working there full-time at the age of 18, and is one of the youngest puppeteers ever to preform on the show.
Then, Tartaglia took a sharp turn from children's entertainment and originated both characters Rod and Princeton in the Broadway musical Avenue Q, which premiered in July 2003. This bizzare and risque puppet show went on to win the Tony Award, suprisingly beating out Wicked the musical!
Johnny has returned now to children with a show he both created and stars in called, "Johnny and the Sprites," which as of now airs on Playhouse Disney.
