American guitarist, singer, songwriter and record producer (born March 5, 1970). He is best known as the guitarist of the rock band Red Hot Chili Peppers, with whom he has performed on five studio recordings (Mother's Milk, Blood Sugar Sex Magik, Californication, By the Way and Stadium Arcadium). He also maintains an active solo career, having released eight albums under his own name as well as collaborations with friends Josh Klinghoffer and Joe Lally of Fugazi under the name Ataxia.

Frusciante is well-known for his intricate rhythms and leads; he supplies a strong mix of funk and rock music, which forms a substantial component of the Red Hot Chili Peppers' sound. As a highly respected and influential modern guitarist, Frusciante ranked #18 on Rolling Stone's list of "The 100 Greatest Guitarists of All Time" in 2003. His solo recordings span many genres and contain elements ranging from experimental rock and ambient music to synth rock and electronica.
