the great couple of the Ghost Whisperer
- Melinda Gordon (Jennifer Love Hewitt), the show's protagonist with the ability to commune with earthbound spirits and owns an antique shop. She is married to Jim Clancy. She helps earthbound spirits and helps them to cross over in the Light. Her grandmother has the same ability, as well as her mother. Her father Thomas left when Melinda was only a small child.
- Jim Clancy (David Conrad), the husband of Melinda who knows about her ability and tries to help her with her paranormal problems while working as a local paramedic. He is a paramedic because his deceased brother Dan was one. Jim knows of Melinda's gift and is worried about what it can it do to her. He helps her with it and supports her.
Melinda: I'm glad I have someone looking out for me.
Jim: I'm looking out for me. You punch really hard during those bad dreams.
