Jesus Camp is a documentary about the “Kids On Fire School of Ministry,” a charismatic Christian summer camp located just outside Devils Lake, North Dakota and run by Becky Fischer and her ministry, Kids in Ministry International. All three children profiled, despite their youth, are very devout charismatic Christians. Levi, who has ambitions of being a pastor, has already preached several sermons at his father’s church, Rock of Ages Church in St. Robert, Missouri. He is homeschooled (as are many of the campers), and learns physical science from a book that attempts to reconcile the creationist account with scientific principles, occasionally by dismissing science altogether. He preaches a sermon at the camp in which he declares that his generation is key to Jesus’s coming back. Rachael, who also attends Levi’s church, is seen praying over a bowling ball early in the film, and frequently passes Christian tracts (including some by Jack Chick) to people she meets. She doesn’t think very highly of non-charismatic churches (or “dead churches,” as she calls them), feeling they aren’t “churches that God likes to go to.” Tory is a member of the children’s praise dance team at Christ Triumphant Church. She frequently dances to Christian heavy metal music, and feels uncomfortable about “dancing for the flesh.” She also doesn’t think very highly of Britney Spears and Lindsay Lohan. There is also a scene at New Life Church in Colorado Springs, Colorado, where Levi and his family go on vacation to hear its renowned pastor, Ted Haggard. (Less than two months after the release of the film, Haggard became embroiled in a high-profile scandal involving homosexual prostitution and methamphetamine use.) Afterward, Levi, Rachael and their families take part in an anti-abortion rally held by Engle in front of the U.S. Supreme Court. (From Wikipedia)

I want to find the kids and talk some sense into them! They’ve been fed nothing but lies since they were born, and now they live in fear of whatever their elders tell them to fear.

Those poor children.

oh wow.  actual kids?  and they're so young, too!  no choice in the matter … you WILL be the faith of your parents …

Wow, that was fucked up. I really hope “25%” wasn’t a correct statistic. I need to get back into activism, or so it appears. I just need to keep in my mind that there’s a fine line between anti-war and pro-peace if you get what I’m saying.

I don't know how realistic is the view one gets from this documentary. Even if there were as many evangelicals as
mentioned in the film, I wonder if they are all as extreme as the ones filmed. I do feel bad for the children in some sense, but I also feel bad for the children whose parents decide upon their birth that they should become a world champion in some sports or like this. I hated how they would frighten the children with sin, though. Remember the cute little lion puppy they used for demonstration? I for one will most definitely fall into sin if it comes to me disguised like that! *g* Poor children :|

yeah well, parents do more bad things to their childeren, the numbers of abused childeren is many times higher then the kids you see here. But people like to take this example to relieve their frustration on religion.
Oh and offcourse i didnt even mention the numbers of childeren under unfluance of parents with drugs, guns, racisms, workaholics and even parents that stuff their kids till they are to fat to walk.

But hey thats old news and for most not even worth a discussion.

I agree, children could do a lot worse than with religious parents, but as you said, it is the frustration. I watched the film with a very religious atheist for whom it was a yet another example on how dangerous the (traditonal) religions are.

Oh, I'm sorry *smiles* Did not mean to be so ... indistinct, ambiguous, nnnh, I don't know the word!

It is when you place your index finger before your closed lips to indicate that there should be silence.
