Peperami arrived on British shores in 1982, somewhat by mistake (the container was supposed to be full of pate) but was instantly loved nationwide. This particular advertising campaign kicked off in 1993 and is still used to some extent, being adapted for 'Firesticks' (a hot bit of an animal) and Peperami mini (it's a little bit of an animal) and other guises.
Clever, honest and hilarious. 3 things extremely rare in advertising these days...

Exactly what part of what animal does this 'bit' come from?
I am assured it is 100% pork salami. In fact it is made with 13.8g of pork for every 10g of sausage!
Although I've always been a bit dubious about 100% claims myself. Just 'cause a McDonalds beef burger contains 100% beef does not guarantee that it doesn't also contain 100% hobo mixed in...
