Although their interaction was initially very adversarial, Kagome and InuYasha's relationship gradually changes over the course of the series, and Kagome's kindness and acceptance of InuYasha has had a noticeable effect on his attitude. Although the two are often seen fighting, they both have feelings for each other. Inuyasha is portrayed as quite protective of Kagome, and often becomes anxious when Kagome sees him protecting Kikyo. In many episodes InuYasha has been to Kagome's era, and once met Kagome's friends Yuka, Eri, and Ayumi when he entered her window while they were in her room. To Kagome's surprise, her 'boyfriend' wins them over.
Kagome and InuYasha had a rocky start. Being the reincarnation of Kikyo, Kagome has a very close resemblance to her. Consequently, the resentment InuYasha held for Kikyo at that time was carried over to Kagome. As the series progresses, however, the relationship between Kagome and InuYasha changes for the better. InuYasha’s tough guy façade slowly dissolves and they fall in love in the typical shōnen fashion. However, Kikyo, InuYasha’s former love, is revived from the grave (using part of Kagome's soul) and InuYasha finds that he still has lingering feelings toward Kikyo. InuYasha decides that he must avenge Kikyo, because she died chasing after him, and he owes her his life. However, Kagome decides to stay with him anyway when she realizes that she loves him. She believes that InuYasha loves Kikyo more, but she will always stays by his side. InuYasha's love for Kagome continues to grow, even though he still cares for Kikyo. This intense love triangle becomes one of the main conflicts within the manga/anime.
As a comic relief, the two argue frequently throughout the anime, in some cases about Kikyo, which sometimes ends with Kagome saying "osuwari" ("sit" in the English dub) and InuYasha splatting to the ground. Miroku, Sango, and Shippo realize that Kagome and InuYasha are in love before the twosome do. It's more evident how InuYasha's concern over Kagome is shown a few chapters after Kikyo's death (chapter 465). InuYasha asked Kagome to stay in modern Tokyo until Naraku was defeated, fearing that she would suffer the same fate as Kikyo. Kagome however decides that she will stay with InuYasha no matter what. In response to this, he holds her hand and tells her that he will protect her with his life. After that, InuYasha's feelings for Kagome remain constant, although he still hasn't officially expressed them.
Further evidence of his feelings appear in Chapter 556. There, InuYasha admits to himself everything Kagome has done for him, including teaching him how to smile, how to trust people, how to shed tears for others, and how to show strength and kindness. He also says that he believes Kagome was born to meet him and for her sake, he was born to meet her as well. InuYasha ultimately saves Kagome from the Shikon no Tama by giving her hope that he'd be by her side. This leads to the Shikon no Tama's destruction, which causes the two of them to be transported to Kagome's time. Inuyasha returns to the Feudal Era where he resides for three years while Kagome stays in her world to finish high school. Eventually, they are reunited and married.

I just watched some more Inuyasha episodes, and in one of them (124 I guess) Kikyo dies (ah, it was soo sad, poor Inuyasha) , but somehow, I didn't get it how, she revive (helped by Kagome). actually Kagome, by risking her life, purifies Kikyo's body so that she wouldn't die. even Kikyo is surprised that she did that, knowing that if Kagome would have hesitated just for a moment, she (Kikyo) wouldn't be alive. so, I guess this proves the purity of Kagome.
and, sasukefan, you said that is hardly anything to like about her, but I can't find anything to dislike. she revives Kikyo even if she knows that by doing this, she won't be able to be with Inuyasha. I think that gesture speaks from itself.

That was nice of Kagome, even though she does sometimes act a bit whiny but at least she proves that she really does care for Inuyasha (she's fond of denying it too but it really shows, ne?). I know other people may have different views but the way I see it, Kagome loves Inuyasha while Inu, though he also cares for Kagome, is still confused as to whether he is really seeing Kagome as Kagome or still just his old feelings for Kikyo resurfacing. I mean, who could blame him? Kikyo was supposed to be dead then up pops her lookalike from out of nowhere. I halted watching Inuyasha eps right now since I'm watching Le Chevalier d' Eon but once I'm through with that, I'll go back to finishing Inuyasha _.

Waves to Sesshoumarusama: Well, still on the Inu x Kikyo x Kagome triangle hehe. But on the other side of the issue, do you have any idea if the manga will end or not? I mean, I don't even know if Rumiko Takahashi has any plans on finishing it. She is still alive isn't she? She should end it properly. There's nothing I detest more than an open-ended series. Oh yeah, and I recently scanned Inuyasha fanfics in fanfiction.net and there are really interesting fics on the love triangle. The sides seem to be evenly divided too…some go with Kagome, some with Kikyo but I kinda wished the creator made Kikyo more actively present in the anime so we can all see who Inuyasha will eventually choose, ne?
Yes you have a point. Most of Rumiko Takahashi's famous works are open-ended. and as a consequence, the animation team have to either cancell the anime (because they don't know when she will end the manga) or put an inconclusive ending. for example Ranma and Inuyasha are both open-ended shows.
and most animation team will not wait for the manga to end to start the anime.
and yes, it would have been more interesting if Kikyo was alive.
Oh yeah Ranma!!! I liked Ranma a lot but when it stopped airing and they only showed OVAs after that, I got quite annoyed. I don't like Akane much though. She's so...overacting sometimes. I mean, she does like Ranma a lot and gets jealous ALL the time even though Ranma doesn't really do anything traitorous, relationship-wise. It even comes as an absolute wonder to me why he's so faithful to her. But at least she's not wimpy, hehe. I like Ukyo better though.
The reason why I want Kikyo alive is that I'd love to see a REAL love triangle among the three. I'm a sucker for those angsty-ridden scenes, especially when they are all so in love and confused *smiles evilly*. That's why I loved Hana Yori Dango when Makino x Domyouji x Hanazawa were still fighting over each other but got bored during the second season when Makino finally chose one over the other. It's just not fun when there's no intrigue anymore.
It's strange that in most animes there will always be someone annoying (mostly girls).
For example, in Ranma there is Akane, and in Inuyasha there is Kagome, and in Naruto there is Sakura, in Bleach, there is Rukia. I know that the writers do this for comedy, but it can be annoying as well.
Yup yup. So far, out of all that you've mentioned, it's only Rukia whom I find the least annoying (I love Inuyasha and Kagome, but as a singular character, I'm not much of a Kagome fan, I just like the pairing) since she's not as lovey-dovey like the others. At least Rukia doesn't throw herself all over Ichigo, unlike Orihime. I don't like Orihime. My favorite anime kanojo to date is Oosaki Nana from Nana because she's got a good heart, a great personality, and she's genuine---she's honest with her feelings. I also like Kou Shuurei from Saiunkoku Monogatari because she doesn't depend on the men around her but she stands up for herself.
Speaking of annoying female leads, whom I get really pissed off are Belldandy in Ah! Megami-sama, Flay Alstar in Gundam Seed, and Relena in Gundam Wing. Relena really gets into my nerves!

Arwen-chan: Irrashamaise! Hmm…I don't like Kagome as an individual character in Inuyasha but I don't hate her either because she has a lot of good things going for her too. What I like is the relationship between her and Inuyasha because it's kind of exciting. They are both in denial of their feelings although I'm not so sure about Inuyasha's. He may be confused what with his love for Kikyo and all. But I like seeing Kagome trying hard to reveal her feelings to Inu without being too forward about it (he does snarl at her whenever she tries to act lovey-dovey,hehe). But I don't hate Kagome either. It's just that I find her too stereotype if it's just her so it must be Inuyasha x Kagome with Kikyo on the side to keep things interesting.

isn't it obvious? she treats him like a pet (more like a dog), doesn't give enough respect, and gets everyone to side (or gang up) on him whenever there is an argument and makes Inu look like the guilty one (even if he is right).

I like Rin, Kikyou, Sarah (episode 133-134) Sango, better than her, because they are not annoying.

Hmmm…when you say that Sesshoumarusama, instead of Kagome I keep thinking of Akane. She's fond of putting the blame on Ranma and heaven knows why he even puts up with her. I think Kagome is a toned down version of Akane that's why I don't hate Kagome. I think Rumiko Takahashi felt the huge annoyance in terms of fanbase for Akane that's why she made Kagome that way. Have you watched Ranma arwen-chan?

Definitely Japanese arwen-chan. I wouldn't watch English-subbed if my life depended on it. English subs suck big-time! They distort the conversations and totally mangle the plot of the series…look at Card Captor. They call Sakura by some really weird name and turned Syaoran into an annoying snip.
Actually, English-dubbed sucks but you should hear Filipino-dubbed animes in my country. They are so awful you'd probably go down your knees and beg for AT LEAST English-dubbed. I once saw an Inuyasha English-dubbed anime…I dunno who I'd want to kick more—-the seiyuu for Kagome or for Sango.

Why do the dub anyway? Well, I know TV stations do that for commercial purposes but what about those who distribute dubbed series? It's totally pointless considering the fanbase for anime—-fans would want to have ONLY English-subbed copies or no subs at all.

Kikyou's dead in the manga now, Kagome tried to save her and Kikyou died happy that Kagome could get revenge on Nataku and went back into being a part of her. Afterwards Inuyasha and Kagome almost kissed but Sota walked in. :(
