How many Christians do you know who act like they care about the consequences? I know they’re out there, but you can’t make that generalization about atheists. The average atheist I know would be slower to kill someone than the average Christian (or religious person period, excepting Buddhism).
Even Buddhists have their moments, Silthilar. And how would you define ‘religious person’ so that it could cover both say, Mother Theresa and a suicide bomber?
I’m no Theist, but I would have to conclude that if this is all a product of just random chaos, then random chaos must be more brilliant than any intelligent being I’ve ever come across.
Yes, I sometimes wonder if the human brain may utilize randomness to learn and make its calculations… To me, if one natural system in the universe can be both intelligent and conscious, it seems to follow that probably all of them are. Maybe this “God” character that ancient religions speak so much about is really the self-engineering, collective mind of all things. An all-encompassing, intelligent creator doesn’t really contradict the concept of natural selection, when you get right down to it, after all.

I just think people don’t want there to be a God so they can do whatever they feel like and not have to deal with the consequences.

Perhaps it is. ;)
