In This House of Brede

Rumer Godden,author of  the book on which this film was based, converted to Catholicism later in life.Her study of life within a Benedictine monastery is therefore a very sympathetic one.Released in February,1975,directed by George Schaefer,This House Of Brede does some justice to those many Religious who do strive for the Christian ideal.

My only criticism is that most nuns in enclosed orders would not wear thick eyeliner-but then,this was the seventies,when it seemed that everyone did!!!
