Ike is the son of Commander Greil of the Greil Mercenaries. The story begins with Ike's last day as a trainee in his father's mercenary company, and follows him as he grows in power to lead a military force for the purpose of restoring an entire nation.
Ike is the first central main character in the Fire Emblem series not to be of royal lineage or noble birth.
Ike is a playable character in the Wii game Super Smash Bros. Brawl. One of his special moves is "Aether", which is a unique skill in Path of Radiance that only he can learn. His weapon is Ragnell, a two handed-sword which he wields with one hand, and also the same sword he uses from Path of Radiance and the sequel Radiant Dawn. His other special moves are called Eruption, Quick Draw and Counter. His Final Smash is Great Aether, which he uses a flaming sword for.In the Subspace Emissary, he dispatches the Ancient Minister by using his Aether attack to detach a bomb from his pedestal and teams up with Marth and Meta Knight. Ike is voiced by Michihiko Hagi (Japanese) and by athlete Jason Adkins (English).
