Hyunckel's parents were killed in a monster attack, but one of the monsters took him in and raised him like a son. When Avan killed Hadlar and Hyunkel finds his adoptive father dead, he secretly holds a grudge against Avan as he thought that Avan is the on who killed his father. Hyunkel begrudgingly becomes Avan's first pupil but, before graduating, unsuccessfully tried to kill his teacher. He was then taken in by Myst:Vearn who brought him up to be General of the Immortal Army, one of the six main armies under Hadlar and Vearn's control. After defeated by Dai and his companions, he realized that Hadlar is the one who killed his father, thus burdening himself with guilt for hating Avan. Hyunkel later joins Dai's party, vowing to protect his Avan's Disciples siblings.
Hyunkel uses the Ron Berk: Magic Armor Sword as his main weapon. As a disciple of Avan, he mastered all three Avan cleaving technique, Cleave the Earth, Cleave the Ocean and Cleave the Air. However, he failed to learn the Avan Strash as he tried to kill Avan during the final moments of his training. Despite that, he managed to learn Avan's Deadly Technique: The Grand Cross and created his own deadly technique, The Bloody Murder Technique.
During Dai's confrontation with Baran, Hyunkel was challenged by Larhalt, a dragon rider working for Baran. Like Hyunkel, Larhalt uses Ron Berk: Magic Armor Spear. Hyunkel won in the end, with Larhalt's respect. Larhalt handed over his spear to Hyunkel as a sign of friendship. Hyunkel later mastered the Avan Spear Style. He still uses the Grand Cross since it is a techique that can be used with any kind of weapons.
During the final fight with Vearn, Hyunkel was challenged by Hym, a rogue warrior working for Hadlar. During the climatic end of this battle, Hyunkel created a new deadly technique, in which he uses his opponents force as his own. He called it the Fist of Battle Determination. Hym acknowledges defeat and befriended Hyunkel. However, they were ambushed by Vearn's Super Iron Soldiers. Hyunkel heroically defeated all of them single handedly but at the cost of his constitution. All of his bones were hairline fractured, beyond the point of recovery, thus rendering him useless in battle. He relinquishes his spear back to Larhalt and retired from being a warrior, finally earning his long rest.
