Hyonrinmaru (meaning lit. "Ice Ring" idiom "Full Moon") is a normal sword which in its shikai resembles a dragon made of ice that comes out of the blade. A crestsent-shaped blade is attached to a chain at the end of the hilt which allows Toshiro Hitsugaya, the owner of the sword, to freeze things on contact. Its bankai is Daiguren Hyōrinmaru (meaning "Great Roaring Coldly Shining Moon") causing the body of a dragon made of ice to be formed on Hitsugaya. In this form it is much easier to freeze enemies and the wings can be used as shields.
