"I have a feeling the movie’s gonna be crap though…hasn’t that happened with every movie adaptation of a book so far?"
Perhaps alot, but not every.
The Harry Potter film franchise seems to set new box-office records every time.
Lord of the Rings won alot of Oscars. Return of the King was even Best Picture.
Gregory Peck won an Oscar for his performance as Atticus Fitch in To Kill a Mockingbird.
Beauty & The Beast was the first full length animated feature to win the Golden Globe for Best Picture (Musical or Comedy) & I believe to date it is the only animated film to be nominated for Best Picture.
Meryl Streep was nominated for an Oscar for her role in The Devil Wears Prada.
& Phillip Pullman is heavily involved in the film making process, so what could go wrong? I think it looks good.
Goodness, the number of times I borrowed 'The Northern Lights' out of the library! When I was small that is. My mum got a bit fed up and ended up buying the series.
I am slightly obsessed with these books at the moment :) finished reading them a few weeks ago, keep going over them and buying the various reference books about them
If a list was made of Most Unfair Fictional Events, the ending of Amber Spyglass has to be pretty near the top, along with the death of Sirius Black. Amber Spyglass is my favourite of the three though, with Northern lights a very close second, Subtle Knife is third, still awesome but I like the other two more

absolutely adore the stories. I just had to buy my own copies. I mean, tiny dragonfly-people spies. who thinks of that?
(Philip Pullman, apparently)
