Hana-Kimi, known in Japan as Hanazakari no Kimitachi e (“For You in Full Blossom”) is a shōjo manga series written by Hisaya Nakajo.
Hana-Kimi centers on Mizuki Ashiya, a Japanese girl who lives in the United States. One day, she sees a track and field competition on TV, and becomes attracted to one of the competitors, Izumi Sano, competing in the high jump. She begins to idolize the young athlete and eventually transfers to Japan to attend the same school that Sano attends. There is a catch, however—Sano attends an all-boys high school, named Osaka Gakuen, and Mizuki must disguise herself as a boy to enter. The majority of the series happens during Mizuki’s second year at Osaka (from Volume 4 onwards), although her first year was significant for her being able to remain in Osaka.
CHARACTERS
Mizuki Ashiya (Horikita Maki)
Main character of this manga. She pretends to be a boy in order to attend the school that Sano attends. She loves sweet foods and she’s a very fast runner. Mizuki falls in love with Sano, but is unable to tell him because she thinks that he doesn’t know that she’s a girl. But what she doesn’t know is that he does know that she’s a girl and he’s in love with her as well.
Izumi Sano (Oguri Shun)
The guy that Mizuki Ashiya likes. He is an excellent high jumper. He finds out that Mizuki is a girl, but does not tell anyone else and actually becomes very protective of her secret. Before Mizuki went to Osaka Gakuen, Sano had been in an accident (he save ashiya from robber that why he got an injury), causing him to quit high jumping for a while because he thought that he couldn’t handle the pressure. But thanks to Mizuki’s determination he is able to try and was given a second chance to high jump. Sano falls in love with Mizuki, but cannot tell her because Mizuki thinks that if Sano found out her secret, she would have to leave. He eventually is able to tell her and even proposes to her in the special chapter.
Shuichi Nakatsu (Ikuta Toma)
He likes Mizuki, but doesn’t know that she is really a girl, and some of his classmate believe that he is gay due to that fact. Nakatsu also seems to have come to terms with that fact. As Umeda says,”...he’s only attracted to her feminine side,” meaning that Nakatsu is responding as any teenage male would to being around a female, although it would appear he is a bit more excitable than his classmates as none of them seem to be affected by Mizuki—or they simply hide it better. He entered the school with a football (soccer) scholarship, and is very good at it. Originally from Osaka (the city, which is different from the school and spelled with different kanji), he has a thick Kansai accent and frequently uses the Kansai dialect. he make cute expressions and became ashiya's best friend in school.

I FREAKING LOVE THIS DRAMA!!! i watched it for Oguri Shun but then it was for the whole cast then for the show! I hope they make a squel I'll be so happy to see Mizuki and Sano together again!

I think the Japanese version is waaay better than the Tawianese version. the japanese version seemed to concentrate more on what was really going on in the story. And plus the actors were HAAWT!!!!

I dunno about a season 2 but I did come across a couple of conversations in jdorama forums that there are already plans for a Hana Kimi Special which is speculated to come out sometime in 2008. Of course, none of them had actual articles from Japanese magazines to back these rumors but i do HOPE these are not just rumors. I watched this show three times and I still can't get enough of it! More Hana Kimi, more!

ella's face is repulsive (NO offense SHE fans...) oh and her body too... i like watching Maki more coz she's not an eyesore unlike ella... oh well, that's jus me... hhahahaha
and this series made me laugh real hard!!!!!!! i sooooooooo love it! i fell inlove with it and i cant get enough of it! why's there only a few episodes......... WHYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY?

YES YES!! hana Kimi all the way!! it was so hilarious! and Shun and Ikuta are in it!!! But why does it say korean actors? Anyways, i havent seen the Taiwanese version, but I've heard from others that Hana Kimi Japan is not as good as the Taiwan.
Am I the only one who likes the thaiwanese version better? I have to say that overall the Japanese version is very good, but I can't get over how much the lead female character in the japanese looks like a girl. I mean, I could believe the girl in the thaiwanese one was a guy, but it's so unbalievably obviouse that she's a girl.
of course it best version coz it takes only 12 episodes not 24 episode...

this reminds me of a American movie were actress Amanda Bynes deguised hereself as well to be at some all boys school in the movie. yet the main reason she did this was only because of some cute guy she had a crush on that went there. you should check out this movie for it might similar to this tv show here.

....as i know... hana kimi japan special is not a humors... its true coz i read it to some article and they started now to shoot...in this case it is the sequel when mizuki knows that the students from osaka gakuen will have to field trip or trip to califonia...
hana kimi special airs in july 2008..
hana kimi japan is more funny than to taiwan...
