Ok this is without doubt the best FPS ever on a console.
Anyone who owned this and had a few friends spent hundreds of hours in single and multiplayer modes. We used to spend so much time playing it led to a condition called “bond eye” characterized by acute retina pain and dryness from hours of multiplayer. We used to play this game so much the console would crash due to heat (no mean feat on a 64).
Many FPS for console still don’t work as well as this one did. If you need evidence just look at the sad tired games EA has made under the bond franchise ever since.

I really liked the soundtrack… Pity games soundtracks are not often noticed (or available on CD).
I remember playing and playing this. It was just so good. The multiplayer was fun also. But you had to play it on a big screen to really enjoy it.
I’m going to be really pedantic and point out it should be called GoldenEye 007.

Soundtrack!!! ARE U SERIOUS !! The reason people don’t want it on CD is cos they’ve left the music running briefly when they break to eat or shit and are soooo fed up of it. LOL Best FPS and Nintendo 64 Game, although I had to think about Snowboard Kids 2.
I was lucky enough to have an older brother with a N64 , 4 controllers & 2 friends. Every other weekend he’d have a sleepover and we’d spend all night play 4 player multiplayer. That game experience has never been beaten since.
I think Nintedo should seriously consider a port to the Wii with multiplayer over the internet.
I think the Wii will run this game and all the other previous Nintendo titles. But it would be cool to have net play.

I love it the best use of one anolog stick for a FPS of all time. Though Perfect Dark for the 64 compares well too. But the golden eye game was better.
i used to get so into it as a kid when i was 8 that i used to freak out when i was going to die! it was so scary as a kid!!
Goldeneye: Source! Its a free mod for the Half-Life engine, you just need to own any of the Half-Life 2 engine games and you can play on Steam.
