Yet another excellent way to rip off kids – similar to Flubber, Oobleck, Glorax and Silly Putty. Can probably be found at ‘World of Crap’.

Gak Recipe

Ingredients: 1 cup white glue, food coloring – your choice of color (optional: coloring can stain!), 1 cup liquid starch

Method: Pour glue and coloring in plastic container. Stir until color is thoroughly mixed in. Add starch a little at a time, stirring with a spoon or kneading with your fingers as mixture thickens. Keep stirring until mixture holds together like putty. Test with your fingers: if too sticky, add more starch in small amounts until mass is smooth and rubbery.

Every single birthday party, this stuff would get in my hair. My party trick. It certainly entertained the guests.

awww, poor emily. i took a less active role in my party trick, which was people breaking my slinky and pulling the arms/head off my favourite doll.

Why must people always ruin slinkies? I sigh.

i know! you work so hard to keep it in perfect condition and then your mean sister offers yours to everyone else so that no one will touch hers. then you end up with a horribly twisted and bent slinky… man, back in the day, untwisting slinkies was the bane of my existence.

Amazing, I had a sister who did such a thing.

I took revenge by ruining her slinky. The day was a joyous one.

Really?! I say, I do enjoy a good coincidence.

I was always too afraid to take direct vengeance though I would occasionally go on covert operations to steal her favourite teddy bear and hide it under my bed. Oh, what an ingenious plan that turned out to be!

However, if I may be so bold as to live vicariously through the actions which transpired on the “joyous” day which I shall call Slinky Vengeance Day, please allow me to bask in the sweet justice of reciprocal slinky bending… Ahh, refreshing.

I believe it was some time in December or January. Let us pick a day and create a holiday!

Why yaesss! I’m thinking some time in mid January, you know after Christmas, Boxing Day and New Year have died down and you’re in that post-festivity mode. It will give everyone a much needed reason to celebrate.

NimbleMarmoset

Hell, let’s celebrate the whole month through!

Marisa

So, January is Slinky Vengeance Month – officially? I think we should spread the word.

Bird’s the word, bird bird’s the word.

AH! No way! Don’t tell me you know Back To The Beach?! Or just Peewee Herman?

What say I add “Best Month For Slinky Vengeance” to January? And also perhaps Slinky Vengeance Month as an item of its own?

NimbleMarmoset
NimbleMarmoset posted about 1 year ago

Ah, I say add both of those!

And that song I just got from The Crawling Hand. I know nothing else about it!

Though I won’t say no to Peewee Herman..

Nyeahxcellent! I shall do it now.

The Crawling Hand? Is this a Golden Raspberry Award worthy film?

It’s an early ‘60s B-Movie! Best seen with Mystery Science Theater. At least, that’s all I’ve seen it with, and I dare not see it any other way.

I love B-movies! I am writing those two down, I hope to find them at my local video shop, in fact I might pry my eyes from this screen shortly and go for a gander in that oh-so-unfamiliar thing called “fresh air” to find them.

Fresh air…. what is that again? I think I remember it….. from long long ago.

Marisa

Hmm, it has been such a long time. I think “fresh air” is that thing you eat when you swallowed too many whatsamacallits. And stars are fireflies that got stuck in that big bluish black thing. I don’t know why I’m quoting The Lion King today.

Don’t worry, I was quoting a bad song up there anyway.

It is pretty bad, I must say. But yes, Back To The Beach is another terrible movie (Peewee guest stars, so you can just imagine) – I adore it! Awful 80’s classic, I hope you find it one day and see it, so we can quote it. :)

Oh, look, I just found a link to Peewee’s cameo: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0sMB6dye29Q
