In this world, there exists people with special abilities to manipulate objects and transform one object into another. These people are known as alchemists. This process does come with a cost though, the basic law of alchemy states that to gain something you have to sacrifice something of the same value.
The main character is the famous alchemist Edward Elric – also known as the Fullmetal Alchemist – who almost lost his little brother, Alphonse, in an accident. Edward managed to contain his brother’s soul in a large suit of armor. While he did manage to save his brother’s life, he had to pay a great price himself.
To get back what they’ve lost, the brothers embark on a journey to find the Philosophers Stone that is said to amplify the powers of an alchemist enormously.

Fullmetal Alchemist is sooooo damn cool!! Sad ending, made me cry. Haha, sadass..
But anyway, Ed, Al and Roy are awesomeness, and Armstrong makes me laugh. *Purplesparkleness* Although the manga is better, I still loved watching the anime.. I still can't believe Romi Paku is Ed's Seiyuu.. o_0 But, she did an awesome job. ^-^

I haven't seen episodes 30- 51 :[ I wanna see it!! >_< Why'd they make Maes die after Elysia and Edward's b-day? That sort of pissed me off…And when Elysia is like "Why are they burying daddy? Mom! How is Dad gonna do his work? Dad has work to do!" Oh my GOD! That made me cry! I LOVE THIS ANIME! I've seen the part of Envy killing Edward…in my DS Game but it only showed Vivid parts…Im sad now! :[

This manga is GREAT! =D I'm planning on watching more of the anime, too (I've only seen a few episodes).
For all of those who love the manga, The new FullMetal Alchemist Brotherhood series is actually the manga in anime form! I've seen the first anime series, read the manga, and watched the Brotherhood series! (I was seriously obsessed… O.o)
Plus, Ed has got to be one of the HOTTEST characters I have ever seen! (Who cares if he's short! So am I! :D )

Better than a lot of over-rated shows like Bleach and Naruto (though I kinda like Bleach) FMA is much more involving and doesn't overstay its welcome with hundreds of pointless episodes and repetative sequences.
