The Evil Dead was a horror film. Army of Darkness was a mostly a comedy. Between them was Evil Dead 2, which profited from splitting the difference more than one might guess -- a film that is not only capable of being funny and genuinely unnerving at the same time, but which effortlessly permits the two emotions to play off each other, with singular results.
The most original, most insane, and most worthy film of the series.
