England is the heart and soul of Britain.. without it, Britain is nothing.. So i don’t see how it’s better.

Now I’m confused. Forgive my ignorance, but what is the difference between England and Britain?

Is this right?: The U.K.: Britain and Northern Ireland, Britain: England, Scotland and Wales?

Is the U.K. a country or are these four regions seperate countries? Four seperate leaders? Is all of Ireland not included in the U.K.? If so, are there different leaders of Ireland?

I believe the United Kingdom is 1 country that is made up of 4 constituent countries: England, Scotland, Wales, and Northern Ireland. Great Britain is merely the large island that contains England, Scotland, and Wales.

Ireland is the island that lies to the west of Great Britain. Ireland is divided politically into the Republic of Ireland, which makes up most of the island, and Northern Ireland, which is part of the U.K. So, the Republic of Ireland and the U.K. are 2 seperate countries. I’m not sure about the leadership of the constituent countries though. You’ll have to have a Brit answer that for ya ;)

I moved to Australia 4 years ago from England and although Australia is a great country, I'll always call England my home.  Sure the weather is better over here, but that isn't what life is all about is it.  After moving away from England, it has made me appreciate my home country even more.  England definately has a lot which some other countries can't offer, such as the vast amount of history and the great scenery.  Living in Australia, I have noticed that most people here are proud of their country, something I didn't find very much while living in England.  I really feel that people in England need to focus on the positive, instead of focusing on the negative such as the weather, because in my opinion England is a wonderful and unique country and I just wish more English people would realise that.

English and proud!!  Just a shame our sports teams can't book their ideas up…

england is a great country and people call us british but were not really. scotland and wales wouldnt even be here anymore if it wasnt for england. england protects gives money and supports wales scotland and n ireland! scotland and wales used to be under english rule and so did 1/3 of the world. there was a saying "the sun never sets on the british empire!" scotland should be proud to be with such a powerful country, more people speak english then anyother language and someone sed tht australia as the best cricket well they dont considering england beat them at cricket and rugby!

what can i say

we had the biggest empire the world has ever seen (still) we invented the biggest worlwide sports, such as football rugby and cricket, without us the american would still be red indians eating leaves, we cultuised over a third of the globe. we discovered electricity, we had the first industrial boom, cars, factories, trains, which we invented. we invented the phone, the first type of computer and many other things. we dont have the best football team but we would take a punch from any foreigner just to cheer for our team, we have the best trained army and special forces in the world (not the largest army though) we have one of the most interesting histories in the world, a place full of culture and freedom of speech. we are one of the worlds bigges charity contributors, i would die for my country, and ive thought that ever since i was old enough to say my country's name. we have the best medical system in the world, we are one of the best places to visit. alot of this u may say may include the rest of the UK, fair enough, but when the UK is 86% English people, we cant allow them to have much credit, between northern ireland, scotland and wales they can have about 5% credit each for the UK's accomplishments haha. ok so pretty much i love my country, call me a wanker, im always standing by good old st. george

England isn't a country? I must live somewhere else, then. I do think Enlgand is a great country. After all it is estimated that 50% off modern technology was first invented by British. This is why i appreciate Wales and Scotland being attached. I think we should all stand together. A pet hate of mine, some people complain about the way the English talk (e.g Americans), i find that rather annoying. After all, they do speak our language and they have the cheek to complain about the way we (English) speak our OWN language. In honesty i know it isn't every American, but there is some. Anyway, here's a few British inventions

That's to name a few. So if people wonder why Britain takes pride in it's achievements, that is why.
