Dreamfasting

In the film The Dark Crystal, dreamfasting is something Gelflings can do when they touch each other. It's a form of telepathy in which the Gelflings share each other's thoughts, memories, and feelings without speaking.

Apparently Gelflings are the only creatures on their planet, Thra, who can mutually dreamfast with one another. Once two of them touch, they don't have to touch again in order to dreamfast. Also, the Gelflings don't necessarily have to touch the hands of the living in order to dreamfast with other Gelflings. In other words, they can dreamfast with the dead as well as with the living. 

Jen and Kira dreamfast which each other when they first meet, and the scene goes through a montage of alternating memories from each of them: of back when Jen's parents were alive before their murder and his subsequent rescue by the urRu; of Kira's sadness whenever the Podlings, her adoptive people, were abducted by the Garthim and made into slaves by the Skekses; of all the happiness they both experienced and how safe they both felt afterwards - and that's probably one of my most favorite scenes from the movie.

It sounds like a fascinating - and enormously useful - ability to have.
