“The audience has got to the stage where you’ve got the freedom as a DJ where you can go where you want to go. That’s why you’ve got such a cross section of music”. Hype likes everything from ragga to hip hop to techno – he’s very open-minded. “I don’t prefer nothing. DJ Hype, Ganja Kru, Tru-Playaz, we’re not into one style or another. That’s why we describe ourselves as freestyle. I’ve been into this scene since August ’89 and every year, the music’s influenced a bit differently”.
