Decatone

Decatone play funk music. Heavy, in-your-face, make-you-dance funk! Their set is all original material with more hooks than a butcher’s freezer. The Decatone sound features all the classic funk ingredients: a solid groove laid down by the drums and percussion; pounding bass lines; classic guitar licks; and keys with all the classic funk sounds. To top it all there’s the brass – the jewel in the funk crown! Decatone will make your ears melt with their hooks and harmonies.

Recently, things have really taken off for Decatone. They played alongside The Fratellis, The Enemy and Mercury Rev on the main stage of the Godiva Festival, the biggest free music festival in the West Midlands. They have developed a loyal fan base, and commanded huge respect with some electric performances at packed out bars, local universities and festivals. 2006 saw them beat over 100 bands to win the BBC ’s G-Factor competition, receiving a massive 33% of the votes.

Decatone continue to grow, looking for management and a recording deal. Their status in the West Midlands continues to rise and they are spreading the funk further afield. Watch out, as one audience member once said: “for a funk band THEY ROCK !”
