Crispin Hellion Glover is a brilliant, eccentric character actor, known for bringing his own lunatic flair to every film he touches. His most famous role is still probably the nerdy father from Back to the Future, but he’s a cult favorite for obscure films like Rubin and Ed, River’s Edge, and The Orkly Kid, as well as for numerous smaller roles that bear his indelibly oddball stamp. More recently, he’s financed his independant projects by starring in the Rat-centric horror film Willard, and providing arguably the only redeeming quality of the Charlie’s Angels film franchise in his role as the Creepy Thin Man.
Off-camera, Glover is also a director, painter, author, musician, and a self-described “collector and archivist of esoterica”. Notorious for being difficult to work with, he also achieved a certain degree of infamy following a 1987 appearance on Late Night with David Letterman, during which he appeared to be experiencing some for of pyschotic break; the interview ended abruptly, after he apparently attempted to kick David Letterman in the head. The incident was variously interpreted in the US press as either a brilliant Andy Kaufman-like stunt or a genuine drug-induced freakout. Glover continues to refuse to clarify the incident.
