Communism is an ideology that seeks to establish a future classless, stateless social organization, based upon common ownership of the means of production and the absence of private property. It can be classified as a branch of the broader socialist movement. Communism also refers to a variety of political movements which claim the establishment of such a social organization as their ultimate goal.

I live in a country, that before year 1989 was part of those countries, that were under control of USSR . And althought we were a socialist country (not communist), it brought just restrictions, suspense and sheepisness. Because: what is worse than if you can´t tell your opinion? If you can´t say what you want? If you can´t go to a holiday to democratic countries? If you have to wait in long queque to buy bananas, oranges and a new car?

Socialism was a real political system. The idea of communists was to better the idea of socialism. So to transform Socialism to comunism.

To create a political system, where everyone is equal with everyone and money doesn´t exist (there everybody works and as salary you get just material goods, not money).

But this idea is an Utopia. Because we are thinking persons. Somebody is taller, somebody is wiser or clever, somebody is teacher, other is miner, somebody want a car, not a holiday in Spain and so on. So people will never be the same, never will want the same as the other has – we are all selfish and allways want more than the other has…. And finally: we are Homo Sapiens – so not just one of many species of animal, but a cogitative species…

I do like the idea of there being no rich people (God, I hate them), but I would not be willing to give up my possessions (by which I mean books and comics, primarily).

I would have to say that communism is definitely the future of mankind. The digital revolution that is being undertook is actually making the reality of a communist utopia more likely. As for wisewick, who lived in the USSR , the soviet union was a complete stuff up from the moment stalin came into power, and his policies scarred the soviet union permanently, and any more communist countries that came into power were almost bullied into going under stalinist lines.(The only exception being yugoslavia.)

Communism is a dead system.

Marx never took into account a “managed” economy. He envisioned an unbridled and unchecked capitalistic system. The bottom line is that we all live in varying degrees of socialist-capitalist states in the developed world.

The belief that a political system would not be able to adapt to the demands of the proletariat to avoid complete loss of control is naive. What we have today is a modification of the capitalistic system that provides “enough” to the working man that he has no urge to overthrow the status quo.

...and wisewick the idea of communism was NOT to better the idea of socialism, it was to overthrow the capitalistic system as seen in the 1800s industrial era by Marx. The bearing on todays economic models is tenuous at best.

Communism should be a good way for a better life, but not that kind of communism applied in USSR, Romania and many other countries. It should be an updated version of communism, a better one. Not totalitarism but comunism. I dont know what to say. In the democratic world it is a complete freedom and people do whatever they want to do (rub, kill, drugs), in communism you feel like in prison. So i would choose communism. I wouldn't like to live in a communist country but i like the idea.

i think there are 2 reasons people fear communism

  • it removes the class system and people in power are afraid of losing their wealth and superiority
  • it has been applied badly in the past such as stalin-era russia

people are greedy, lets face it, especially in the west and i have to say, as an average working class person i think the difference between classes in our modern capitalist society is rediculous, its structured to keep the power down, and prioritises the wealth of the upper classes over that of the needs of common people.

communism a great idea and if executed preoperly it leads to a much better society were people arent discriminated against because of their social status, its just that in the past it has depended on people tht wish to use it for personal gain, which is wrong. personally i think lenin was one of the greatest political leaders in history and it takes a leader such as lenin who will use it to improve life for the people.
