Columbo was an American crime fiction TV series created by Richard Levinson and William Link. Columbo (partly inspired by the Crime and Punishment character, Porfiry Petrovich) was a shabby, apparently slow-witted police detective—although, as criminals eventually learned, appearances can be deceiving.
