Reviled serial killer Manson recorded fourteen songs with Beach Boy Dennis Wilson in the summers of 1967 and 1968, which were first compiled and released in 1970/1971 while he was being tried for the Tate-La Bianca murders.
Although his output obviously pales in comparison to that of nearly all of his contemporaries, the material on “Lie: The Love & Terror Cult” is no worse than a lot of the meandering and introspective mush which is inflicted on us by today’s generation of singer-songwriters.
I’m particularly taken with two songs of his: “Look At Your Game Girl” which was covered by Guns n’ Roses in the 1990’s, and “Cease To Exist” which was recorded by the Beach Boys in a slighted altered form.
Although the initial release of the album was intended to raise funds for his trial, you’ll be relieved to hear that proceeds from the most recent edition of this disgusting man’s collection are donated to a Californian fund for victims of violent crime.
