When I was a kid we had a cat named Mao, we also had a cat named "Lucifer", but we called her Lucy for short. Cats are the best pet. We don't have one now, but I'm sure eventually we'll get one.

Saddam
Saddam posted about 1 year ago

My G.F calls them different names - just to confuse the poor things but i have to think about the situation when im calling out the door for them to come in - she talks about "blonde" "Rosy" or something like that. I aint shouting a girly name but have no quarms about shouting "Mugabe get your butt indoors you little git" or "Hitler stop pooing in next doors garden .... go over a couple more fences first" ... Lucifer hey .... I like it - maybe if I have another child .....

gbman
gbman posted about 1 year ago

I'm glad you like it, whenever the family agreed on a name of a pet, the next step was to go outside and yell it like you are calling for the pet. If it passed the "shout" test (meaning if you didn't feel silly shouting the name) it was a keeper!!

I love cats, tho I dont think that I could share my house with one of them, not because I have 2 dobermans but because I think people who have a high ego can't get on well with cats. A cat wouldn't let you caress him unless it wants you to. The house is his once he enters there, not yours anymore and he'd own your beloved tv seat. The cat is the boss.

gbman
gbman posted about 1 year ago

Very true summer, cats are very sure of themselves. If you call your cat, it may come to you, it may turn away from you, that's a cat. I have always thought that cats are a great barometer for finding out about people, you have to have a certain personality to live with a cat. Dogs are easy, if you call a dog, and wherever it is, it will come running to you, making you feel good instantly. With a cat however, you must realize that if it doesn't want to be petted, it just won't bother with you, some folk can't handle the rejection.

Dogs wear there hearts on their fur, cats keep it tucked away for that special moment when they want to show it. When they do show it, you know it's genuine. Cats will find anything to play with independently, they don't need humans to play with. A dog will run around the house looking for a ball, find it, and drop it at your feet, dogs need human interaction constantly.

Mind you, I love dogs too, they are extremely loyal. Cats are too, they are just not as obvious about it, they are just so cool!

Liane posted about 1 year ago

nahh i think it depends on d animal's charcter for ex my cat waits for me behind d door after wrk, on d bed late in d morning after a partynight, wakes me in d morning when i over sleep, talks to me when i cal his name even more when i ignore him, keeps me company on d pc, comes running down even if he's asleep as soon as he knows i called or i arrived, he even keeps me company while dresing after a shower to go to work or out and im not exegerating! he even comes to d toilet with me for a piss or to wash my teeth so i dont think u could really generlize… im not a dog hater i like em but their to damn dirty and they're not soft and cuddly and u cant pat them everywhere especially male dogs they have they're weener too protruding besides they're 'fur' is not really soft and not pleasurable :/ and d doggy walking i dont like

Lilybert
Lilybert posted about 1 year ago
Liane, I completely agree. It depends on the cat's characters, they can differ much. My cat was very good company, used to greet me when I came home and watch me going when I went away. Followed me around in the garden.. cuddled me when we were inside Smile

Saddam posted about 1 year ago

My kittens want to be near me all the time but it is all on their terms - dogs do what they are told even when they dont really want to.

Nick_raccoon
Nick_raccoon posted about 1 year ago

I agree with Liane and Lilybert.

Most people have prejudices about cats, mainly people who have never really had a cat at home. It's stereotype thinking that a cat is more selfish, that it loves the house rather than the people, etc. Truth is, cats - just like people - have their own personalities, so you can have very sweet cats, loving and depending on humans; and you can have crazy, independent cats. I have had many, and they were all different one from another.

That is what I love about cats: their true similarity with humans. Would you like to be given orders and be petted when you don't feel like?

Lilybert
Lilybert posted about 1 year ago
I wouldn't, and I like people as well as animals who don't. Be able to say "no"! Wink

Being like humans: that's why I wouldn't live with a cat. There are enough humans around to live with :) But still cats are fabulous animals (tho I think the wild big cats are the best ones).

And of course cats may differ in character. But in general, this is stable in their character: they have a tendency to do whatever they want. This rebel side of cats is what makes them cats, tho the main thesis remain the same: people with high egos cannot share the life with a cat.

MastaKink
MastaKink posted about 1 year ago

It all comes down to a question of choice. Dogs were domesticated long before cats. Dogs are pack animals, social creatures, so yes they fit into our social world better, yet they require more attention. Whereas cats usually hunt and live alone, with obvious exceptions of lions and mothers with their young cubs. Cats survive with very little social interaction, just feed 'em once in a while and kick 'em when they piss on yer bed ;P I kid. We can argue about it forever but I like apples as much as I like oranges, the question is why, and which one fits better into my way of life…

Liane
Liane posted about 1 year ago
PS: cats where one of d 1st species to rule human kind, 1st specie that human kind looked up to so talking about history wouldnt make dogs better hehe i see dogs like wusses sometimes a cat is mature Smile
summer
summer posted about 1 year ago

Well, I think making comparisons between cats and dogs is really out of this subject, Liane. Irrelevant.

Liane
Liane posted about 1 year ago

yea true tho many of us do i dont know why

Clarabella
Clarabella posted about 1 year ago

I see your point Summer...

Possibly because I don't get along with people who have high egos, so I am definitely a cat lover.

Liane is absolutely right: cats were domesticated by ancient Egyptians thousands of years ago in order to protect their farms from rats. It was a sort of pact established between cat and mankind, which apparently worked out very well.

:)

Liane
Liane posted about 1 year ago

actually d proper word is worshiped more then domesticated… i find that really cute worshipping these cuddly cute creatures to keep off rats :))

Clarabella
Clarabella posted about 1 year ago

Though I think my cat would never chase a rat …. he is too lazy!!!!!!!

Lilybert
Lilybert posted about 1 year ago
Well, I love people with personality, but indeed I'm tired of people with overwhelming egos, the ones who talk coz they like their voice and aren't interested in your reply...
Clarabella
Clarabella posted about 1 year ago

Of course Lilybert, you are right. Having a strong personality - which is good - does not imply having overwhelming ego.

Cats do not have high egos, they just do their own thing. Cool!

Saddam
Saddam posted about 1 year ago
Are you thinking of someone in particular Lilybert ?
Lilybert
Lilybert posted about 1 year ago

One person in particular... at work Wink

but there are many like that.

summer
summer posted about 1 year ago

Just note: people with high egos are not big heads. Having a high ego is not overwhelming self-love. By having a high ego, I was meaning people with a noble character. And it's always hard for two noble characters to get on well, like a cat and me; altho I've always been crazy for cats. Just a natural truth for both mankind and cats.

Saddam
Saddam posted about 1 year ago

Now lilbert is surrounded by the funny red nose people!!!!

Summer I understand and agree with you - going by your definition, I believe i used to have a bigger ego but am now more noble - I like all pets although I have had enough of them right now, too much money and not enough reward - I have a hamster and a Lizard too - My wife took the dog when she left! - I would actually quite like to be rid of them all but my gf likes them around. The Lizard is old and the hamster will go to uni with my GF in Octomber so im left with her kittens, pooing and fighting - I must admit, when they are playing together and falling off chairs and things they are very cute. - I found out this morning that the black one loves bacon!!!!!!

Lilybert
Lilybert posted about 1 year ago

To me big ego doesn't mean noble character. You mean = proud?

Clarabella
Clarabella posted about 1 year ago

Summer:

I am sure that you are not a selfish overwhelming ego, so maybe the definition of 'noble character' sticks better. I still believe, though, that there's some cute little kitties suitable for noble characters like you!!

:)

summer
summer posted about 1 year ago

Yes Clara, you got me well :) And kittens are lovely for me to live with, but when they grow up, we two stubborn characters would drive ourselves into trouble and fight for the same seat or sofa :)

Lilybert
Lilybert posted about 1 year ago

Hey, I was talking in general about "overwhelming egos", not dissing dog lovers. Sorry! I was following my train of thought.

summer
summer posted about 1 year ago

Oh, of course I got that you were speaking generally and I didn't take it personally. But I just wanted to underline that what I meant by a high ego was not what you were saying. Of course I know such people like the one at your office (as you said), and I hate them too. Those are what I'd call big heads, who think they know the best and never listen to you.

Clarabella
Clarabella posted about 1 year ago

Summer, possibly there is a cat who would share the sofa with you? :)

Or maybe sit on your lap? Mine does!!

:)
