Genre of music originating in the 1990s with such bands as Blur, Oasis, Elastica and Pulp which drew heavily from the original British pop explosion of the 1960s and mirrored its rise and fall. Produced lots of overproduced dreck as a matter of course, but it can be argued that if you don’t like something about Britpop, then you must not like pop music.
