i am british and i love my accent! the british accent rocks. ecspecially the brummy one ! but all of the british accents are differnent like u hav yorkshire, scouse, brummy etc. which are all waaayyyy different but british is the best !
You don;t want a British accent, you want a Scottish one. Although not an Aberdonian one, or a dundee accent, you cant understand a bloody word they are saying. Glasgow/edinburgh are fine though. I scoff at your ‘British accents! PAH !
It’s different I admit but it does get annoying being stereotyped as someone who talks about the queen, the crown jewels, london buses, afternoon tea, says BLIMEY , CRIKEY, BLOODY HELL , TALLY HO and speaks really quickly like we live in the 20’s or 30’s.
When I visited my cousin in London, one of my favorite things was how her friend Kyle always said “I caunt be bauvuhd” (I can’t be bothered) whenever he didn’t want to do something.
There ISN ’T a British accent! We have lots and lots of accents. My own is a Cambridgeshire-English-roughened-around-the-edges-by-Southampton accent, posh-sounding to an American but not-so-posh to the Queen =).
“British” means of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland. The accents include South-West, Northern, Welsh, Scottish, Northern Irish – all very different. What this group means is: a refined (but not too toffy) English accent is the best: i.e. mine! :D
Cor luv a duck! I don’t find our accents appealing at all. English ones are boring,(Mine) I Can’t understand the Scots, And the Welsh ones are kinda’ annoying.
Bring on the Irish I say especially the Dublin accents.
I have to say british accents are pretty smexy! especially when they say words that americans dont like… well i cant think of an example right now, but you get the idea
Well I thought of 'funny' because GBman mentioned British Humour masters like Monty Python, and I agree with him it is the best humour ever. So the British accent also reminds me of this great sense of humour.
But of course when I normally hear someone speaking with a British accent, I don't think they are funny! Mostly nice, and sexy....;)
I simply think that it was the environment and the mixing with other cultures who were alreay in the American continent that made the American English variety the way it sounds now. Thus, even if the British had won, the accent today on the 'other side of the Atlantic' would be the way it sounds now!
all americans think the british sayt hings like "oh gosh, what a cracking game old chum!" and all brits think that americans talk like " OMG, i can't believe it, like, like, you know, OMG!"
In America, one of the most common questions during normal conversations is: "Is it can or can't?" With British accent, just say "con't" and you're done.

I agree, British accents are hot.
It’s the pronouncing r’s like h’s that gets me every time. Especially the way the British pronounce “rather.” Raw-thuh.

I love, LOVE Rachel Shelley’s accent.
I wish I had a British accent! I have none, just a midwestern American one…boring, I know.

Oh I see, British “accents”, plural.
is an idiot
Yeah I’ll agree then :p.
I have often thought that I would take myself more seriously with a British accent.
bloody brilliant!
You Americans and your bloody stereotypes.
Cor, aren’t British accents just spiffy?
To Melissa’s comment: “I caunt be bauvuhd”…. hahhaa, I could totally hear it in me head.
Agreed, it’s the coolest accent. Has personality, like no other.

Anthony Hopkins say no more what a accent.

I love British accents, they're are what I grew up on (Monty Python, Benny Hill, Fawlty Towers, Are you being served) The Best.
I have to say british accents are pretty smexy! especially when they say words that americans dont like… well i cant think of an example right now, but you get the idea
The best... sexy, cute and funny accent!
;)
they aren't funny =(

No Timothy, we love them because they're sexy in an odd, but good way lol
I think this is the only reason I like to watch golf on TV. All the announcers seem to have British accents. It's awesome!
i simply can't resist someone talking sweet things to me with this accent...^^
I sorta wish that the British had won. Then we'd all have really cool accents here in America!
lol I dont
Isn’t that a bit…extreme? I’d really rather not still be a colony.
And if the accent’s THAT important to you, you can always become an expat!

although, it's not as yorkshire-ish as other peoples accents.
but british accents are the best.
Hey sound so sexy when they say bad words!!!
In America, one of the most common questions during normal conversations is: "Is it can or can't?" With British accent, just say "con't" and you're done.
im a london boy so to the average american i probably sound exactly like dick van dyke
Dick Van Dyke in Mary Poppins, that is. He’s American, so he doesn’t talk like that all the time.
Aww. I loved Bert.
yes obviously when in Mary Poppings, Thanks, Dick from Diagnosis Murder just wouldnt work now would it
