Bob Barker died in 1985. He had a heart attack at news that his friend and the shows announcer Johnny Olson, died in a catamaran accident. Mark Goodson Productions, not wanting the public to know that the prizes they were giving away were shoddy merchandise (i.e. the catamaran), had a gun planted in Johnny’s apartment with his prints on the weapon making it look like a suicide. In ‘86 Rod Roddy took over as announcer and they have been using a robotic puppet to represent Mr. Barker.

Sadly, I shall never be able to go on his show. He retires before I’m eligible to get tickets.
Oh, how my heart laments my cursed age.
Bob Barker shall never die
