Experience Rock N' Roll like you've never seen or heard it before! The Bloomfields are comprised of five young gentlemen (all LaSalle Greenhills graduates) who have taken a liking for the rock and roll music of the 60s. Don't mistake them for a cover/show band, for these guys take their 60s music seriously. Embracing influences from classic rock ‘n roll to contemporary British pop-rock acts, The Bloomfields take pride in their musical prowess and deep melodic roots. To them, music by The Beatles, The Beachboys, The Shadows, The Ventures, Dave Clark 5, Cliff Richard, Chris Montez and other rock n’ roll greats is nothing less than pure and true.
"It's happy music" as they like to call it and happy you will be when you listen, sing along, bop your head, dance, twist, shout, smile and laugh to the music of The Bloomfields. With JJ LOZANO (22) on the lead Rickenbacker (the guitar John Lennon used), LOUIE POCO (21) on the bass Rickenbacker (also a Mcartney Favorite), PEPE LOZANO (24) on the electric guitar, LAKAN HILA (24) on piano/organ/keyboards and ROCKY COLLADO (21) on the drums, The Bloomfields promise everyone a boogie-good time.
The band started back in good ol’ high school at the La Salle Green Hills when JJ decided to start a band with buddies Rocky and Louie. Believe it or not, they played alternative and punk music, with inspirations ranging from Oasis to Blink 182 and McCarthy. Strange, isn’t it? Mod was their style of choice.
When they finally got into college, they started tapping what they now fondly call “happy music”, playing a few songs from the 60s during odd gigs. Ritchie Valens fueled their first steps, with songs such as Do You Wanna Dance, C’mon Let’s Go and La Bamba being played as staple gig tracks. La Bamba became a huge hit in all their gigs, and they later on noticed how their audience enjoyed this “happy” stuff they did. They then decided to expand their repertoire of 60s rock ‘n’ roll from one gig to the next.
Inspired by other legendary rock ‘n’ roll bands such as The Beach Boys and The Four Freshmen, they became interested in blending in vocal harmonies during performances. That’s when Pepe– Jay Jay’s brother from shoegaze band Weedisneys – along with Lakan, also from the Weedisneys, hopped in.
The Bloomfields, is now signed with EMI Phils and is going launch to their debut album on March 2007.
The rest is rock ‘n’ roll history. Word got around that a group called The Bloomfields – a bunch of young, energetic boys in suits who played “daddy music” (but definitely fun and timeless music nonetheless) – was making thunderous waves playing in schools, private parties, and bars.
In addition to their already excellent music portfolio, the boys recently made the papers when they fronted for big foreign acts Gary Lewis (2005) and Herman’s Hermits (2006), both held at the Araneta Coliseum.
The Bloomfields is now signed with EMI Phils and just launched their self-titled debut album featuring the first single WALA NANG IBA which. The first single is now enjoying the airwaves accompanied with their music video directed by Wincy Ong.
