Bleak House – One of the most innovative adaptions of a Dickens novel to come from the BBC . Adapted by the always wonderful Andrew Davies with stellar performances from an all start cast.
Young and new actress Anna Maxwell Martin walked away with the BAFTA in her role as Esther whilst Gillian Anderson simply stole the show portraying the wonderfully flawed Lady Dedlock. Charles Dance sent shivers down every viewers spine as the icy Mr Tulkinghorn whilst Denis Lawson sparkled as the ever loving Mr Jarndyce.
An all round wonderfully entertaining period drama for the young and old alike!

I’m amazed! Gillian is gorgeous as Lady Dedlock! I’m really touched by her performance. That secret pain in her eyes, those looks, she really did a great job. Lady Dedlock is my favourite fictional character and as Gillian portrayed her made me cry several times. She’s just wonderful!!!

The scene where Lady D reveals herself to her long-lost daughter was the best, most convincing, I have ever seen on television. If only one could be moved like that at least once on every show…tv would lose its bad name.
