Released in May,1947,Black Narcissus won several awards(including an Oscar)for its cinematography,alone.I think it did particular justice to Rumer Goddens' examination of the religious life-where Deborah Carr plays a character who is tested,admits her humanity,but prevails in her decision to stand by the commitment that she has made to God.
