Black Lizard

Japanese comedy made in the 1960’s starring (fabulous drag/actor Akihiro Maruyama. And Yukio Mishima in an unprecedented cameo role) as the infamous female jewel thief.. the Black Lizard. She kidnaps a wealthy jeweler’s daughter as part of a plot to steal coveted “Star of Egypt” diamond. The jeweler hires Japan’s number one detective to outsmart the Black Lizard and rescue his daughter. The two adversaries try to outwit each other, but develop a mutual respect and affection for each other. Black Lizard and her posse kidnap the jeweler’s daughter and gain possession of the “Star of Egypt”, and take her to their secret lair on a remote island which, populated only by an eerie collection of naked human statues where she plans to preserve the jeweler’s daughters beauty forever by turning her into one of her dolls.
