Black and white is the best way to capture a subject. Compare the same photo side by side, one b&w and one in color, the subject in b&w just stands out better.
Yeah, I’ve done that before! I used to have a tv that only played region 2 dvds in colour, everything else was black and white! Documentaries usually look better in b & w!
A good photographer can make color photos and wonderful as black and white. Turning a good color photograph black and white is a sin. Says I. But who am I?
That must have been something in 1939 when Dorothy landed in Oz, to see all of that beautiful color explode on the screen in a black and white movie world!!
Too played out in my opinion. Not to mention it shows a lack of inspiration in less experienced photographers. Master composition first, then move on to effects.
i like black and white photography because you dont get carried away with the colours, you like it for the look, you can see the meaning. you not getting caught up with the colour of the skin/hair/eyes, and it is left up to your imagination to colour it in :)
B&W photography prioritizes form and testure without the distraction or noise of color. Both have their uses, but when I want to emphacize the subject I use B&W.

Colourlessness is the most suitable thing for my soul.

digital realism > b/w expensive labwork
black and white piccys… simply radistical.
Time not exist with this art.
classic, stark, nostalgia-inducing.
“digital realism > b/w expensive labwork” who’s talking about reality? I think we’re talking about ART in here… I love b/w surrealism

I don’t think that’s entirely true – black and white sunsets generally look rubbish!
both have their pro’s & con’s…
Agreed! There are some things that do lose their meaning in b&w. Just as some things work better in b&w.
I think you loose some of the warmth with b&w, also your eye is more drawn to lines and shadows…
With color everything is spelled out for you; green grass, blue sky, etc. Black and white allows for more contemplation of the “picture” itself.
sometimes I watch movies in b&w, just adjust my tv and get a different view of a fav movie!

(Oh yes, and turning good black and white into color is possibly more sinful. Colorized black and white movies are dreadful!)
Colorizing old black and white movies is awful, the worst.
There are hand-colorized movies from a time as tecnicolor was a unrelisable utopie. It dipends always on the intention of the artist.
Last night, I had a dream that I was watching a Judy Garland movie that was normally in black and white, but was colorized.
I was in a movie theater, and felt the need to tell everyone that there were sinners afoot.

yes! they put oz in color was gorgeous.
It’s even striking in 2007. They must have been going nuts in 1939.
Black and White photos make everyone look like a porcelain doll.Or very pin-up like.
i love black and white photos... it helps hide acne and it just looks so right... it irritates my mom that i use it so often
it has a special thing to it.
all my pics on myspace are black and white =D its the prettyfullest
id say give this one 100% cause black and white are the best pictures u can get anywhere.
i love patched up old pictures! they are my favorite, u often find me looking at old pics in our old albums its joy!!
I love taking black and white pictures! They are so much fun!
You shouldn't take things if they don't belong to you.
Hey, has anybody here seen the British drama called shooting the past?
It’s all about black and white photography, and has Timothy Spall in it, so It’s gotta be good!

It's straight to the point; color is good, but people overuse it.
While colour photos are brilliant and flashy, black and white photography is just beautiful in its simplicity.
it's one of the few things i look good in for pictures
Johnny Depp looks so sexy! Owe!
