How you can help:
- Eat local and organic food. Minimize consumption of animal products. Maybe you can still eat fish and eggs and drink milk in little amounts but don't eat chicken and red meat. Those are bad for you anyway. You can also try growing your own food.
- Walk or use a bicycle. If you can't help it, try using public transportation once a week. One car off the road for one day a week makes a huge impact.
- Turn off electric appliances when not in use. Make sure they're not on standby.
- Switch the damn faucet off when you're soaping up.
- Use the shower instead of the tub.
- Wash clothes and dishes by hand and let them air-dry instead of using appliances to dry them for you.
- Instead of using the heater, bundle up in warm clothes.
- Recycle! Keep plastic bags instead of throwing them away. You can use them for shopping bags and carrying extra stuff.
- Buy at thrift stores when you want to go shopping so you're not buying anything newly produced from the factories.
- Plant a garden in your backyard.
