Barry Brown was one of the most talented actors of the 197'0's. He was one whom you noticed immediately, and whose face you could never forget. Not only was he an extremely talented actor, but also intellectually gifted young man who wrote mature, well-researched articles for horror magazines from the time of his early teens.
Sadly, his life was almost as much of a horror story as was found in the movies and magazines that he loved so well, and at the age of 27 (after battling many years of alcoholism and depression), he took his life.
The poignant, tragic story of Barry Brown's life (and death) can be found in two books his brother, Jim (a university professor) wrote, entitled "The Los Angeles Diaries" and "Final Performance." And if you can get copies of his TV shows (notably, "Marcus Welby, M.D.") and one of his most notable movies, "Bad Company" (1972), by all means do; you won't be disappointed, and you can enjoy the intense, emotional talent of Barry Brown, just as I did (and still do), so many years ago...
