Baka means ‘idot, moron, stupid’ in Japanese. And is more often used in a joking manner.
I read somewhere that the Japanese don’t actually have any swear words. Instead it’s more of what you say.
So if you say, ’’you are stupid’’ this would be like swearing at someone.
They don’t have specific words just meant for insults.
Here is some more info on the word BAKA !!

You shouldn’t believe all you read… bakayaru and bakamono are commonplace, in my experience; but you need to have a copy of a book like A dictionary of Japanese Slang to access the.. shall we say less savoury aspects.
Before you ask, my copy is unavailable at the moment (I’ve lost it!).
i said to a japanese person you don't say baka right? and she ''no it's not good to say that lol''.
and i do you ever says chikusho, and she said ''i sometimes think it but never say it''.
in anime chikusho is subbed as ''dammit!'' or sometimes ''shit!''.
:P
What does Osaka from Azumanga Daioh have to do with this?
