The real version of the little mermaid was soo tragic, it made me cry the first time I heard it.
Didn’t she get caught in a fishing net or…
She died because Eric married the other women.
Yeah, I saw a Japanese version of it, and it followed the actual story. Disney thinks it has to make everything nicey-nice.
Also, in the Japanese version: no sea shells.

For the record, there is no aftersea. The original story not only kills the girl off (via stabbing through the heart) it also makes it explictly clear that mermaids have no souls, and thus no afterlife potential. Talk about a downer.
AHH little mermaid… haha me and all my friends love the movie….We lovve singin the songs ..HAHAAA
She dies in the real one becuz hans chirstpher anderson.. the storie is besed on his life and the way he came to be.. and she died becuz her love prince married the other grl… that’s how hans life was his life was crushed in hell..wit both love gone he had nothing but the stories he writes and the litle house he lives in….>:( SAD ..

The original version was a lot prettier.
