This 2006 film, based on the short story by Alice Hoffman, is about two best friends who discover and befriend a mermaid. Aquamarine, the title character, is a sassy mermaid who enjoys venturing out into the human world but doesn't forget her mermaid origins. She comes to shore looking for love and finds it, as well as two new friends. Sara Paxton stars in the title role as Aquamarine.
