Anxiety of Influence is an alternative-rock ensemble out of Edmonton, Alberta, Canada. Featuring heavy & crunchy guitars, an emphasis on spectacular percussion, and with moody piano phrases, AoI appeals to the current mainstream alternative rock scene. But it is the unique and powerful female lead volcals, coupled with thought-provoking & dynamic lyrics, that really sets them apart. While the band is currently building a dedicated following in Edmonton and the surrounding area, their presence on Myspace.com, Garageband.com, thesoundradio.com, and several other prominent internet organizations has garnered them a solid international following as well. They are strongly influenced by modern alternative rock bands such as Evanescence, Finger Eleven, Breaking Benjamin, and Lacuna Coil, as well as an eclectic mix of other genres.
In January of 2006, Anxiety of Influence's song Insomniac received local and national attention by achieving a regional top-five spot in the Canadian Radio Star National Songwriting Competition. Insomniac also received airplay on Edmonton, Albertas 100.3 The Bear FM radio station, as well as KYX98 in Fort McMurray, Alberta, Canada. They have also performed a number of live shows in Edmonton, and are steadily gaining a reputation for a high-quality, solid live act. In the summer of 2005, Anxiety of Influence recorded their four song demo EP, Antecedent which includes their popular track, Insomniac. The band also actively encourages listeners to download high quality digital audio files of the four tracks on Antecedent from their website.
The band continues to use their demo EP, Antecedent, to gain venue support in and around the Edmonton area, and they are planning to head back into the studio very soon to record their first full length album. They are also preparing for an active summer of live performances around Edmonton. Between rehearsals and upcoming performances, Anxiety of Influence is always writing new material.
