“Anime” is an abbreviation of the word “animation” but outside Japan refers specifically to Japanese animation.
Anime has many genres typically found in any mass media form. Such genres include action, adventure, children's stories, comedy, drama, erotica (more specifically ecchi or hentai), medieval fantasy, occult/horror, romance, and science fiction.
Most anime includes content from several different genres, as well as a variety of thematic elements. Thus, some series may be categorized under multiple genres. For example, Neon Genesis Evangelion might be considered to fall into the genres of post-apocalyptic, science fiction, mecha, and drama. A show may have a seemingly simple surface plot, but at the same time may feature a far more complex, deeper storyline and character development. It is not uncommon for an action themed anime to also involve humor, romance, and even social commentary.

Anime is probably one of the best things to happen in my life. take it from me when you hear about a person who likes anime you think NERD! you imagen them fat ugly with glasses with all sorts of wierd hobbies. well it should be that way since we got the most obese nation but its not i am an anime fan and we are perfectly normal. i watch it for the imagenation that goes into it. american cartoons arent enough for me. i am tired of seeing superman or spiderman save the day i wanna see some blood or a bit of violence. Anime fufills my needs its more graphic they dont hold back on the blood its WAY more action packed Oh and guess what ! IT HAS BOOBS!(lol) i am not pushing down american animation because deep down i still love it i mean i grew up watching things like scooby doo,Looney Toons, ect. but most of that time i was watching Thunder cats,speed racer,Dragonball and Saint Seiya. I LOVE ANIME!

Animes are the best. Almost all of my favorite shows are animes. My favorite animes are both Gundam Seed and Gundam Seed Destiny, Eureka Seven, Code Geass: Lelouch of the Rebellion, all the seasons of Pokemon, Digimon, Hamtaro, and Yu-Gi-Oh. I don't know why, but I just really enjoy and addicted to all of them. I enjoy their songs, the characters, the dialogue, etc. I could watch it for hours and never get bored of it. Mangas are really cool tool. Some of the shows listed are also in TCG format and therefore I collect their cards as well. In general, animes are the best product of Japan.
It beats all the crap they put on Tv these days…. There’s never a day when I’m not watching anime, i love it so much.
ANIME sure gives me something to look forward to everyday in my life. It's not like addiction, rather a stimulant.
