In my opinion Warhol’s greatest creation was The Factory itself.

“Art” is in the eye of the beholder. I do like his work.

I think this quote explains alot about how Andy Warhol wanted his work too be viewed: “If you want to know all about Andy Warhol, just look at the surface of my paintings and films and me, and there I am. There’s nothing behind it.”

Andy Warhol didn’t produce art, he produced products and I think it is competely fitting that he called his studio The Factory. There is no message in his work that he wants to communicate to the viewers, the “artwork” has no deep meaning to him personally that he wanted to express, and it can be argued whether or not it had a formal purpose (meaning he used rules of design to make his work aesthetically pleasing).

His products were mass produced (most of it by the silk screening process) and most of it was branded with logos and icons of pop culture. Andy Warhol produced American culture in his factory, that’s is all there is too it.

In a whole the idea is genius.

“I love Los Angeles. I love Hollywood. They’re beautiful. Everybody’s plastic, but I love plastic. I want to be plastic.”

I think he achieved his dream. He made himself a product.

Your comment is moderately sickening to me, though I guess you have to have no problem with Consumerdom America to appreciate it.

My art history teacher said he used to pay young guys to sleep with another guy while he took pictures with a polariod camera. Then he disappeared into the bathroom with the polariods...

his works are good.. i wish i could buy one of the watches that they made in tribute of mr. andy warhol. he really is an icon nowadays, especially with people trying to do the styles that he incorporate on his works.

A friend of mine told me this story about Andy Warhol trying to to give Jim Morrison "a phone that allowed him to talk to God" in exchange for his photograph.

That guy must've been on some nutty drugs.

haha Andy is pretty neat. his films were the best tho, its really shows thats art can be anything in any form. Even if no one took it seriously, he created paintings and films that he beleived was art. =] Did anyone ever see him eat a hamburger? hahaha genius!

May I quote John Waters:

"If Warhol is not the american dream, there is no american dream".
