I've read all the Song of the Lioness books by Tamora Pierce, and Alanna is by far one of the best characters I've ever encountered in my readings. She's so strong-willed and brave and stubborn, and those are great qualities to admire in a woman, or in anyone for that matter. The Song of the Lioness quartet is one of my favorite sets of books.
