Steve McCurry's "Afghan Girl" is one of the most recognized photographs from the National Geographic magazine and his most famous picture. The identity of the "Afghan Girl" remained unknown for over 15 years until McCurry and a National Geographic team located the woman, Sharbat Gula, in 2002.

I remember that image from the magazine,itself-hauntingly beautiful-but she also looks afraid, doesn't she?
yeah she is but she beautiful
the forum on photography is expanding! :)
i love this photo, it says so much without saying a word, personally, i see strength in her eyes, and its amazing how Steve McCurry never stopped searching for her. Beautiful..
This one of the classic National geographic photos. I saw another photo of her grown up, middle aged lady in an issue of National geographic magazine. The war took the youth and innocence from her face so early but she still has those piercing green eyes that tell story of its own…Beautiful :)
I LIKE THE PICTURE BUT HER EYES ARE BEAUTIFUL THEY POP!LOL
Wow!-this is interesting!
Here is a link to Wikipedia for the girl(Sharbat Gula's) story. Here are girl and woman,together:-
